A Tooro United player grounded during the away tie against Nyamityobora at Kakyeka Stadium

A number of sportsmen across the divide in Uganda have faced endured varying hitches that hitherto limit high performance consistently.

From out-door games as football, rugby, lawn tennis, athletics, cycling, netball, hockey, basketball, cricket, handball, ring tennis, swimming, to in-door games like chess, badminton, table tennis, squash, and many others, more or less, the problems are the same.

Such grey zones are decimated from poor facilities, shanty equipment, appalling remuneration in allowances, salaries and bonuses, poor feeding, accommodation, limited competitions and many more.

Such could be the some of the order of the day at FUFA Big League entity, Tooro United Football Club.

The players at this Fort Portal based club are fitted between a rock and a hard place having gone a number of months without receiving salary.

The same crop of players are complaining of basics as soap and poor food at their base Fort Portal.

“I feel like quitting this club. We sleep like animals. Basics are soap are missing, can you imagine? The food is like chicken feed. We have gone about 7 months without pay. These conditions are tough and we do not deserve to live this” a senior player who requested to remain anonymous for fear of being witch-hunted disclosed.

Club president Alice Namatovu openly refutes the allegations but acknowledged she is working on the few glitches within the camp.

“On my God! It is not true. 7 months. No. But, I am working on some cases of allowances for the players” Namatovu, who recently resigned her marketing job at BBS Telefaina to concentrate on the club hinted.

Tooro United is coached by veteran coach Edward Golola. Golola recently hired Denis Kizito to assist in the department.

Fresh from winning their second leg of the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 32, 3-1 against Kataka to qualify 3-2 on aggregate, Tooro United have a home duel in the FUFA Big League.

Tooro United will face newly promoted Terrazo and Tiles this Thursday, 15th April 2021 at the Buhinga Stadium, Fort Portal.

Tooro United overcame Water and Proline; 2-1 and 1-0 respectively on the opening match days before falling 4-0 away to Nyamityobora at the Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara City during their first three games of the 2021 FUFA Big League.
