FUFA Women Super League
Makerere University WFC 0-1 Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga
Kevin Nakacwa’s second half penalty was the difference as Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga overcame a resilient Makerere University side in the first game of the 2021 FUFA Women Super League played on Monday at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.
Despite Uganda Martyrs High School having an edge on paper, their display on pitch was not convincing as Makerere University marched them for the bigger part of the game.
The resolve was however broken in the 70th minute when Nakacwa converted from the spot after defender Stella Namisango fouled Anita Namata inside the forbidden area.
In the early exchanges, Uganda Martyrs High proved dominant in possession but lacked the cutting edge.
Latifa Nakasi, Catherine Nagadya and Spencer Nakacwa who led the front line made several inroads but lacked the cutting edge.
On the other hand, Makerere University had half chances through Amina Nababi, Sharon Namatovu and Rebecca Nakasato but failed to go past Uganda Martyrs backline.
Uganda Martyrs High School will return to action on Tuesday against Kawempe Muslim Ladies while Makerere University will face Tooro Queens.
The two teams are in group 1 alongside Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Kampala Queens and Tooro United FC.
The top two teams from the two groups will advance to the playoffs to determine the Champion.
