  • The league will be played in a tournament format

  • Top two from each group progress to the Championship playoff

Uganda Martyrs High School vs Makerere University – 9am

Kawempe Muslim Ladies vs Kampala Queens – 12pm (Midday)

The encounter between Makerere University WFC (SHE MAK) and Uganda Martyrs High School, Lubaga will get the 2021 FUFA Women Super League season underway in the early kickoff on Monday morning at the FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru.

The game will mean the return of action in Women’s Football for the first time in 13 months. The previous season was cancelled in March last year after the outbreak of COVID-19.

The two teams are targeting a perfect start in group 1 that also has Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Kampala Queens and Tooro Queens.

Uganda Martyrs High School coach Rogers Nkugwa believes they have had enough time to prepare and is optimistic that his charges will deliver.

“We have had ample time to prepare and I believe the players are in good shape. We want to have a good start and therefore the game against Makerere University is a must win for us,” He said.

Nkugwa adds that despite being pooled in a tough group, there is chance to advance to the Championship playoff.

“When you want to win, you must face the tough opponents. Therefore, I have no fear for the teams I have to face.”

His counterpart, Fred Ndawula also states that they want to have a perfect start if they stand any chance of progressing to the next stage.

“Starting on a good note means a lot because it gives you momentum and confidence ahead of the next games. Therefore, we shall into Monday’s game expecting a good result.” He told this website.

The last time the two teams face was during the 2018/19 season with both the first leg and second leg ending in draws.

Uganda Martyrs will miss the services of four players that is Uditer Basemera, Winnie Nakanwagi, Halima Kanyago and Mary Kemigisha who are sitting for their S.6 Exams.
