FUFA Women Super League
Wednesday, 21st April 2021 | Matchday Three
Tooro Queens vs Kawempe Muslim Ladies – 9am
Kampala Queens vs Uganda Martyrs High School – 12pm
Kampala Queens will be in for a stern test as they take on Group 1 Leaders Uganda Martyrs High School on Wednesday.
A disappointing start to the 2021 FUFA Women Super League saw them suffer heavy defeat at the hands of Kawempe Muslim (4-0) and their hopes of progressing to the Championship playoffs will hugely depend on Wednesday’s clash.
Against Kawempe, the team under the stewardship of Isma Mukiibi lacked the cutting edge despite creating numerous scoring opportunities.
And this is where emphasis will have to be put if Kampala Queens are to overcome rock-solid Uganda Martyrs.
The Lubaga based side has won all their two games with an identical score line of 1-0 and victory on Wednesday will see them earn a slot into the next stage.
Defence lapses for Kampala Queens
In the loss to Kawempe Muslim, Kampala Queens looked susceptible every time the former attacked and the lack of coordination in the back line cost them in all the four goals conceded.
Assistant coach Shafik Mutebi is aware of the challenge and indictated its one area they have tried to put emphasis prior to the game against Uganda Martyrs.

“Many if not all the goals we conceded against Kawempe were avoidable. I think we did not perform well as a team and we have tried to look at the mistakes we committed.” He told Kawowo Sports.
Uganda Martyrs doing just enough
They don’t play fancy football but have cohesion as a team and fight relentlessly. The back line commanded by skipper Gloria Namugerwa has a great understanding and give no room for error at least judging from the opening two games.
Upfront, they have players that are comfortable on the ball and can cause threat whenever they surge forward. These include Catherine Nagadya, Spencer Nakacwa, Latifa Nakasi and Anita Namata among others.
The early kickoff on Wednesday will see Kawempe Muslim take on new comer Tooro United FC.
It should be noted that the top two teams at the end of the group stage will progress to the Championship playoff.
Group 2 which will play next week has UCU Lady Cardinals, Lady Doves, She Corporate, Isra Soccer Academy and Olila High School
