McKinstry shares ideas with the first assistant coach Abdallah Mubiru

Uganda Cranes coach Abdallah Mubiru has bid farewell to departing Jonathan Mckinstry following his agreement with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) to end his contract.

Mubiru – who has been part of the technical bench with the 35-year old tactician – took over from him after his one month suspension was effected on 2nd May.

Unfortunately, Uganda failed to qualify for the 2021 AFCON tournament after losing to South Sudan and Malawi away from home to finish third in group B.

In a simple message to McKinstry, Mubiru felt he appreciated the 2019 Cecafa Challenge Cup winner’s “professionalism and ethics towards work”.

“Thank you for everything coach, Nothing but maximum respect for your effort and the work we have been able to do. I have always admired your professionalism and ethics towards work. Wish you all the best my good friend Johnathan McKinstry,” Mubiru wrote on his social media page.

Under McKinstry’s guidance Uganda enjoyed a 67% win rate from his 18 games in charge – 12 wins, 3 draws and only 3 defeats.
