Thursday, April 22, 2021: Elgon Group

  • Arua Hill 2-2 Gaddafi

Special moments in life are always reserved for special personalities at special occasions and on special timings.

Gaddafi Football Club forward Ronald Bithum Nsumbiano is a special character.

With an eminent win for Arua Hill Football Club, Nsumbiano had completely different ideas altogether for visiting Gaddafi at the dreaded Barifa ground in the West Nile region city of Arua.

The diminutive albeit skilled forward scored at the death of the game to give the visitors a point on the road.

Arua Hill had taken an early lead through former Uganda Cranes forward Ceaser Samson Okhuti off an assist by left back Dan Birikwalira.

The home side suffered a setback with Okhuti’s injury on 17 minutes and he was replaced by Alfred Leku.

The lead was neutralized by Mark Bamukyaaye’s penalty as the opening stanza ended one goal apiece.

Upon resumption in the second half, the Leopards gained a numerical advantage when Gaddafi’s Frank Mulimi was sent for an early shower following a foul on Rashid Yekini three minutes to the hour mark.

Arua Hill restored their lead their former Vipers, Express, Proline, and Onduparaka forward Leku in the 69th minute.

Nsumbiano then grabbed a late-late equalizer as the two sides settled for at least a point.

Gaddafi returns from the West Nile region with four points off two matches following their earlier 1-0 win over Paidha Black Angels at the Bar Okoro stadium.

Arua Hill is now level on points as Kataka – Mbale (12 points) but the West Nile side has a superior goal difference.

Gaddafi faces Calvary this coming Saturday in Jinja whilst Arua Hill makes the trip to Zombo to play Paidha Black Angels.

Meanwhile, tears were witnessed at the same Mbale Municipal Stadium when Power registered a 1-0 late victory over Mbale Heroes.
