Progression Races: Saturday, 24th July 2021

At Sea Forest Waterway

Uganda’s only rower at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games Grace Kathleen Noble will race in her second regatta in the single scull category at the Sea Forest Waterway on Saturday, 24th July 2021.

This will be during the progression races from which the first two rowers will march to the quarter finals whilst the remaining crews will head to the semi-final of E/F.

Noble will be joined by Sudan’s Esraa Khogali, Hongkong rower Hung Wing Yan Winnee, Cuba’s Milena Cancio Venega and Togolese national Claire Ayivon.

During her very first race at the Games, Noble clocked 8:21:85 in heat two of the single scull event at the Sea Forest Waterway.

In that particular race, Republic of Ireland’s Sanita Puspure, 39, was top with the timing of 7:46:08.

27-year-old Kenia Lechuga from Mexico came second with a timing of 7:54:21 as Greek woman Anneta Kyridou, 22, was third with 7:54:28.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Aisha Chow, a 44-year-old rower was fourth and Noble came fourth.

Joan Poh, 30, from Singapore was sixth in the heat and did not qualify.

The Ugandan, who set a national record is optimistic that she will improve her timing.

“I feel very excited having participated in the Olympics. The competition was really good and I know I will keep improving” she said.

Besides the single scull competition, there are a quite a number of other categories as double, quadruple and 8 man race.
