Result Summary NPCA 50 over League
Kanbis Sports Club 185/10 (Kenneth Waiswa 4/25)
Ruaraka Sports Club 186/7 (Zephaniah Arinaitwe 36, Brian Masaba 17)
Ruaraka won by 3 wickets
Ruaraka Sports Club claimed its first victory over defending champions Kanbis in five years during the 50 over NPCA league.
Cricket Cranes all-rounder Kenneth Waiswa was the star of the show – picking up four wickets in his 10 overs, giving away only 25 runs.
His magic upfront had the defending champions pinned at 9/3 early on and only a brilliant recovery job by Kenyan international Emmanuel Bundi (57) helped Kanbis post a commendable 185 all out.
Yes I am enjoying my bowling and keeping it simple, running in to hit top of off stump and letting the batter make the mistake. After 2 years out without bowling I feel my whole body hurting but that’s the pain of being all rounder.Kenneth Waiswa about his bowling form.
In the chase, Zephaniah Arinaitwe laid the platform for his team with an uncharacteristic knock of 36 off 32 balls with 6 boundaries.
His national captain Brian Masaba made a 17 run contribution both getting starts that are due a conversion.
We are glad to finally get that monkey off our backs. We came to strengthen Ruaraka and happy to contribute and get a win against the defending champs. First win for Ruaraka over Kanbis in 5 years. Important win for us,hoping to carry that momentum into the games to come.Brian Masaba on the win over Kanbis
This – their 1st victory for the Ruaraka that keeps them in touch with the top teams as they look forward to next weekend.
Another good work for the trio who will have to contend with the biting cold in Nairobi after a great day in the field.
