Peruth Chemutai won Uganda’s first gold medal in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Women’s 3,000m Steeplechase on Wednesday.

She is the first Ugandan woman to win a gold medal at the Olympics and brought the count of medals from this year’s Olympics to three so far.
