Wakiso Giants survived a scare in Mityana as they edged Buganda Regional side Kiyinda FC to in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64.

Moses Aliro scored the winner in the first half moments after the hosts had missed a penalty.

Aliro’s goal arrived in the 15th minute, a minute after Samson Kiirya who was making his second successive start for the Purple Sharks saved a penalty.

The goalkeeper made amends after he had fouled the Kiyinda Boys attacker in the area.

Wakiso Giants were the better side for better parts of the game and could have scored more especially in the first half but were lethargic in front of goal.

At the death, they needed another superb 1 v 1 save from Kiirya to progress to the round of 32.

In the other games played on Wednesday, Kajjansi United beat MYDA 3-0 while Tepa FC shocked Seeta United 3-1 in Mukono.
