Rams 05-21 Buffaloes

Liam Walker was the star of the show as Buffaloes defeated Rams in their own backyard in the Nile Special Rugby Premiership on Saturday.

Buffaloes needed 11 points off Liam’s boot to seal the victory, coupled with Aaron Tukei and Jimmy Katumba’s tries.

Rams scored one try through Ernest Kato and even it wasn’t enough, their mid-game surges were to be credited, buoyed by their home crowds.

Buffaloes dominated the first half thanks to infringements that handed them the advantage. Liam converted both penalties before Tukei tipped over with 9 minutes left.

Katumba’s late try in the corner for Buffaloes was literally the final nail moments before the whistle was blown.

Buffaloes Captain Seguya Wilfred: “We came for a win and the boys put their bodies on the line to make sure Buffaloes leaves Makerere with a win. The second half was hard because we went one man down but we managed to contain Rams. Even the subs that came in, I really thank them. Even the coaches for knowing who to play where and being good viewers of the game.

Rams Captain Emmanuel Kibirige: “It has been a tough encounter for us. We had a couple of handling errors that cost us the game most especially in the red zone when you have time to execute. We need to improve in that area. We came back strong in the second half. It was much better. Better handling, better control and we were able to get a try.”

Man of the Match Liam Walker: “We had a very good game. Massive improvement from the last two weeks. Everyone came out with fight in their bodies. We wanted to get over the whitewash, actually score and win. Personally I don’t think I deserve Man of the Match, I think there were numerous players that had an excellent game. I was fortunate with a few of my kicks. I just want to say, a big well done to the Buffaloes today. They all played phenomenally with the substitutes coming on and putting in a great shift and really hitting and running hard with the ball. Also I want to say a big thank you yo Rams, they put in their hearts as well. Unlucky for them that we came out on top. “
