Stanbic Uganda Cup (Round of 64)

A 10-man Express Football Club advanced to the round of 32 in the 2021-2022 Stanbic Uganda Cup tournament.

This followed a comprehensive 3-0 win over Kansanga based PCCP Soccer Academy at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Friday, 28th January 2022.

All the three goals for Wasswa Bbosa’s coached side arrived in the opening stanza of the game that followed an early kick off between Nsambya and Kyetume.

George Ssenkaaba (penalty), Joseph Akandwanaho and Mahad Yaya Kakooza gave the Red Eagles an easy victory on the evening.

Express were later reduced to 10 men after a send-off for Enock Ssebaggala for a harsh foul onto Hakim Matovu.

Express started the game brilliantly when Ssenkaaba scored the opener as early as the second minute via a well struck penalty.

This followed a foul in the goal area onto Erick Kenzo Kambale.

Akandwanaho scored his first ever goal for Express in the 20th minute before Kakooza’s strike in the 35th minute.

The early kick off that commenced at 1 PM witnessed Kyetume edge out Nsambya 4-3 in the 7 goal thriller.

Kyetume left footed forward Ezra Kizito Kaye scored a hat-trick and Emmanuel Kalyowa (penalty) added the other for the Slaughters.

Ramathan Ogen (brace) and Isaac Oforywoth replied for the Kampala regional side Nsambya in a show of spirited display.

Both Express and Kyetume progressed to the round of 32 where they are assured of at least Shs. 2,000,000.

Express has won the Uganda Cup 10 times, same as KCCA.

The championship is sponsored by Stanbic Bank with paints gurus Kansai Plascon the other partners.
