Entebbe based Rugby national league franchise Mongers Rugby Football Club and Kansai Plascon Uganda have extended their partnership in a sponsorship deal worth UGX360M for the next three years.
The development was revealed during a press briefing at the brand’s home on 2nd street industrial area on Tuesday, 15 February 2022.
This sponsorship package translates to UGX120M per year over the course of the agreement.
It will among other aspects be channelled towards the improvement of the players’ welfare and the completion of the club home according to the club president, Elijah Kitooke Ssegawa.

We have been in a stable relationship with Plascon for ten years so to have this kind of commitment from the brand is a strong statement of approval of the direction the club is taking. It’s a demonstration that they trust the process and this process will deliver trophies in the foreseeable future.
Elijah Kitooke Ssegawa, Plascon Mongers’ president

Ssegawa pledged that; “There are only a few nuts and bolts we need to tighten such as the completion of our home ground the house of pain, in Entebbe -a project that perhaps wouldn’t have been possible without Plascon-, as well as improvement of the welfare of the boys and the training gears. This will provide both a firm foundation to nurture players and thrust us onto a pedestal to attract the very best players in the region.”

Plascon’s Managing Director Santosh Gumte underlined the brand’s strategic focus on sports investment revealing that the brand always looks out for opportunities with the greatest knock-on effects to give back to their customers.
At Plascon we pride ourselves in understanding our customers. Over the decades this has been demonstrated through the various unique products we have pioneered on the local market including but not limited to the anti-mosquito paint. But while our customers are passionate about the beauty of their homes and state of their health, they have other aspects of life they are passionate about of which sports is key. Sports is a unifier of people from all walks of life, provides employment and has also provided some of the best ambassadors Uganda has ever had. For this, and more reasons we have decided to extend our commitment with the Plascon Mongers.

The sponsorship package also includes playing kits, as well as any additional training items, gear, and merchandise.
Plascon shall also bear all costs relating to the advertisements and branding of the club.
Besides rugby Plascon also finances two clubs in the Uganda Premier League; Vipers and Arua Hill Sports Club.
The painters also sponsor the Stanbic Uganda Cup, the oldest football knock out competition played since 1971.
