Gaddafi Football Club scored late to win 1-0 over Mbarara City at the Gaddafi Arena in Jinja city on Sunday, February 20, 2022.

Defender Andrew Waiswa scored the priceless penalty in the 6th of the 7 added minutes after normal time to grab the maximum points.

The penalty had been awarded by Referee Richard Kimbowa for a foul on January signing Sheif Batte in the forbidden area.

Waiswa, the captain for the home team composed himself to drill home past goalkeeper Martin Elungat in goal for the Ankole Lions.

Mbarara City endured the final 30 minutes of the game with a man down following a red card (for a second bookable offence) to skipper Solomon Okwalinga on the hour mark.

This is the 6th win for Gaddafi, league debutants that takes them above UPDF in the 8th place with 24 points.

Consequently, Mbarara City suffered their 10th loss of the season which leaves them in the 14th position (under the relegation red line) with 16 points.

New Mbarara City head coach Sadick Sempigi was finally allowed to sit on the technical dug out after securing his bench permit.

Gaddafi right back Frank Onen was named the pilsner man of the match, earning Shs 100,000 and a plaque.

The league takes a break to allow action in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

Match day 19 of the league will resume on 1st March with three matches. Onduparaka shall host Gaddafi at the Ababet Green Light stadium, Arua city.

Police shall host Tooro United at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo whilst BUL will be home against UPDF at Kyabazinga Stadium in Jinja city.

Mbarara City returns to action in the league on 4th March 2022 against Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) at Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara City.
