Wakiso Giants Football Club booked their berth to the round of 16 stage in the 48th Stanbic Uganda Cup.

The Purple Sharks humiliated second division side Kyetume 5-2 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium in Wakiso on Tuesday, February 22, 2022.

Samuel Ssenyonjo (on loan from KCCA) starred with a hat-trick.

The other two goals for Alex Gitta’s coached side were scored by captain Hassan Ssenyonjo and Tom Masiko.

The two goals for the visitors christened as came off former Uganda U-17 international Ezra “Rubber Boy” Bidda.

The damage would have been severe had Wakiso Giants scored the other created opportunities during the closing stages of the match.

Titus Ssematimba hit the lower bottom post in a one against one incident with goalkeeper Jamil Malyamungu and Moses Aliro Okabo blasted over from close range.

Other matches:

Mbale Heroes edged Kampala regional side NEC 1-0 at the San Siro ground in Mbale.

James Mukebeezi headed home Mbale Heroes’ goal.

Ndejje University progressed to the last 16 after winning a tense shoot out 4-1 over Luweero United.

Both clubs had played to a 1-all draw in 90 minutes at the Kosovo playground before post match penalties decided the winner.

Brian Ssali gave Ndejje University the lead before sharp forward Derrick Mudali levelled the matters for Luweero United.

The round of 32 continues on Wednesday, 23rd February 2022 with three matches.
