Semi-finals (Tuesday, 15th March):

Quarter-finals:

  • Royal Giants High School 6-0 Kabule Township
  • Mityana SS 4-0 Namungo SS
  • Ssingo SS 2-0 St. Francis SS
  • Mumusa SS 0 (10) – 0 (9) Pride SS

The quarter finals for the 2022 Mityana district secondary schools football championship were completed on Friday, 11th March at the Ssaza grounds in Mityana.

Royal Giant High School, Mityana S.S (Namukoozi), Ssingo SS and Mumusa SS advanced to the last four phase after negotiating their respective quarter final duels.

Royal Giants High School humiliated Kabule Township 6-0 during a one sided match.

Skipper Shafic Kakande and Ronald Kaye each notched a brace.

The other two goals came from Anwar Awardh and UPDF’s Samson Kasozi for the team coached by Impala Hill’s head coach Frank Mulindwa.

Mityana SS saw off Namungo SS 4-0 courtesy of Aggrey Ainembabazi’s hattrick and Eric Ageno’s other goal.

Ssingo Secondary School, an entity coached by Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza beat St. Francis SS 2-0.

Two second half strikes from Paul Lukyamuzi and Shafik Siranyi gave Ssingo the desired victory.

Elsewhere, Mumusa SS edged Pride SS 10-9 in nail-biting fashion during a tense and dramatic penalty shoot-out after normal time had ended goal-less.

Semi-final match ups:

Royal Giant High School shall face Mumusa S.S in one of the two semi-final clashes lined up on Tuesday, 15th March 2022.

Mityana S.S shall square up with Ssingo S.S during the second semi-final clash at the Ssaza grounds in Mityana.

“We are under-dogs but we shall give our best in the match during the semi-final.” Ssekabuuza of Ssingo SS disclosed to Kawowo Sports.

The two finalists shall qualify to represent Mityana District at the zonal level which will also be held in Mityana district.

This zone as schools from the five districts of Gomba, Butambala, Mityana, Mpigi and Mubende.

The best three schools at the zonal event will qualify for the 2022 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) national finals slated for Arua city in May.

St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende is the reigning national champion.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the nationals were not played in 2020 and 2021 since all schools had been locked.

Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) is the main organizer of this competition meant to spot and nurture talents from the grass-root level.
