Maroons Football Club outsmarted visiting Luweero United 3-1 at the Prisons stadium, Luzira in Kampala city during match day 16 of the FUFA Big League on Sunday, 13th March 2022.

Forwards Solomon Walusimbi (brace) and Fred Amaku scored the three goals for the 1968 and 1969 Uganda Premier League champions.

Amaku gave the home side the lead on 37 minutes to boss the opening stanza 1-0.

Walusimbi then struck the first of his two goals in two minutes into restart of play before getting the brace in the 57th minute.

Towering defender Brian Nsubuga nodded home the consolation in the 63rd minute off an inviting corner-kick for the visitors.

This victory was a perfect reaction for Maroons who had suffered a 2-0 loss away to Blacks Power during the previous match day.

Maroons is now second on the 11 team log with 29 points, two shy of the top placed side Blacks Power (both clubs have played 16 matches apiece).

Meanwhile, Mbale based Kataka was a class act during their 6-1 walloping of Kitara at the Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Raymond Derrick Onyai, a January window recruit from Mbarara city scored a brace.

Emmanuel “Messi” Mukisa, Swamadu Okuru, Noah Mudenyi and an own goal had the other goals for Kataka.

Charles Kyomuhendo got the consolation for Kitara.

Kataka had lost their immediate previous game, 2-1 away to Luweero United at the Kosovo playground.

Other results:

Table leaders Blacks Power and Kyetume played to a goal-less draw at the Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira city.

Proline out-smarted visiting Malaba Youth Development Association (MYDA) 2-1 at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo city.

Calvary and Mbarara city based Nyamityobora played to a goal-less stalemate at the AbaBet Green Light Stadium in Arua city.

Three clubs shall be promoted to the Uganda Premier League by the end of the FUFA Big League season in May 2022.

Three clubs will also be relegated to be respective regional leagues with four promoted.

Match day 17 of the FUFA Big League will come on Thursday, 17th March 2022.
