Overview:

South Sudan in group B alongside Uganda, Central African Republic and Congo.

Midfielder Ochaya Okot Oywak Otim is among the 51 players summoned on the South Sudan U-20 provisional team for the 2023 U-20 AFCON tournament.

Ochaya was born and bred in Uganda before switching allegiance to South Sudan.

He has expressed readiness to represent his new country gallantly at the AFCON U-20 tourney coming up in Egypt.

“I am mentally and physically ready for the task before me, to represent South Sudan at the AFCON U-20 championship in Egypt.” Ochaya who has played at Express, Kansai Plascon, Entebbe and Nyamityobora revealed.

Other players on the provisional list with Ugandan descent includes goalkeeper Richard Anyama, Joseph Donato Okello and Francis Onekalit.

Towering forward Peter Santos Aparer Chut was born in South Sudan but grew up in Uganda and he is currently a student at Royal Giants High School.

The provisional team has 51 players and currently training is underway in Juba city.

South Sudan in group B alongside Uganda, Central African Republic and Congo.

Hosts Egypt are pooled in group A with Mozambique, Senegal and Nigeria.

In group C, there is The Gambia, Tunisia, Benin and Zambia.
