Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin Sredojevic aka Micho finds himself in a tough place as Uganda takes on Senegal in their second Group B game at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament in Algeria.
The Uganda Cranes will face the Lions of Teranga on Wednesday at the 19th May 1956 Stadium in Annaba seeking to do better than the goalless draw against DR Congo in the previous game.
Whereas a point off DR Congo was a fair result, facing a team like Senegal that won their opening game against Ivory Coast calls for extra caution.
What is worrying for Micho is that his charges failed to register a shot on target in the first game. And the Serbian coach is aware of the conundrum he is faced with.
“We are going to play against Terranga Lions. It is a game of magnitude where we need to have hunger inside us. The game is like a Cup final and we must get something from it. We need to capitalize on areas of danger and sources of vulnerability for the opponents.” He said on Tuesday.
Frank Ssebufu and Nelson Senkatuka are the natural central forwards on the team and the two will have to offer a better shift than they had against DR Congo if Uganda is to get a good result.
Travis Mutyaba and Titus Ssematimba came off the bench and tried to give the team the drive going forward.
Perhaps Micho and his technical team could make changes in the starting team or offer more time off the bench for the aforementioned duo.
Before Uganda’s encounter with Senegal, wounded Ivory Coast will be seeking for redemption against DR Congo in the earlier game at the same venue.
