Total Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) 2022 winners Senegal have dominated individual awards at the tournament held in Algeria.
The domestic Lions of Teranga edged Algeria 5-4 after a goalless draw after extra time at the Nelson Mandela stadium.
Pape Thiaw’s charges were awarded the Fair Play Prize for their discipline and display throughout the competition just like it was at Afcon 2021 under the management of Aliou Cisse.
The tactician, a former Senegal international was also named the tournament’s best coach after clinching the title – the first ever for the nation in the competition.
His goalkeeper Pape Mamadou Sy who saved a penalty in the shootout was named the best custodian.
Throughout the tournament, Sy conceded just one goal and it was by Uganda Cranes Captain Milton Karisa in the group stages.
However, there was no clean sweep for the West African as Algeria Houssem Eddine Mrezigue was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Aimen Mahious won the golden boot after scoring five goals in six games.
