For the second successive game in the competition, Vipers SC needed post match penalty shootout to overcome lowly ranked opponents after eliminating Fufa Big League side Jinja North United.
The closely contested affair at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe ended in a goalless draw before the Venoms won 7-6 on penalties to advance to the round of 16.
Ahmed Tetty, Martin Kizza, Isa Mubiru, Milton Karisa, Hilary Mukundane, Olivier Osomba and Fabien Mutombora made no mistake from 12 yards as the hosts missed in sudden death.
What will worry Vipers the most is failing to score in three games under new coach Bianchi Beto but for now, they will celebrate remaining in the competition.
At Mbale Municipal stadium, Soltilo Bright Stars beat Mbale Heroes 4-3 on penalties after the match also ended in a 1-1 draw.
Warren Bbule, Ibrahim Kasinde, Emmanuel Loki and skipper Nelson Ssenkatuka all converted while Ibrahim Matovu saved twice to deny the hosts.
Fufa Big League side Mbarara City also beat Admin FC 1-0 at Kakyeeka thanks to a lone strike by experienced Henry Kitegenyi.
The trio join Wakiso Giants and Kitara FC who already made it to the stage after wins on Tuesday.
Action continues in the competition at the round of 32 continue until Monday.
