A well taken brace by Jovan Katuramu inspired the Mityana based Royal Giant High school to the much-desired 2-1 victory over South Sudan's Libya One.

  • Awaro S.S (Ethiopia) 2-0 Amus College School Bukedea (Uganda)
  • Kiramuzi MS (Rwanda) 0-3 Front Gate (Tanzania)

Royal Giant High School from Uganda is through to the final of the CAF Pan Africa schools’ football championship (CECAFA zone).

This followed a spirited 2-1 win in one of the boys’ semi-finals over South Sudan’s Libya One at the Azam Sports Complex, Chamazi, Dar es-salaam city in Tanzania.

A well taken brace by Jovan Katuramu inspired the Mityana based school to the much desired victory.

Najib Naling assisted the goals for Katuramu during the well-contested duel.

Royal Giant High School will now battle Ethiopia’s Geda Royal S.S in the final to fight for the top prize money (USD 100,000), a trophy and a treasured slot to the CAF Pan Africa schools’ finals in Morocco come April 2023.

The runners-up will settle for USD75,000 and bronze medalists USD 50, 000.

Meanwhile, the journey for Uganda’s representatives in the girls’ category, Amus College School, Bukedea was stopped by Ethiopia’s Awaro S.S after a heart breaking 0-2 loss.

Coming to the semi-finals, Amus College School Bukedea had won all their three matches in the group stages to amass the maximum nine points.

They registered a comprehensive 3-0 win over Sudan’s El Hila Al Jadida in the opener.

Asia Kakai, Sharom Nabunya and Joan Namungo were on target for the Ugandan ambassadors.

In the second game, Amus College School overcame Djibouti’s CEM Baulous 1-0 courtesy of a penalty by Priscilla Fauchan.

For the third match, Amus College School needed a spirited 1-0 performance over Rwanda’s Kiramuzi MS.

Shakira Logose scored against Kiramuzi MS.

Front Gate from Tanzania will now face off with Awaro S.S (Ethiopia) in the girls’ finale.

Front Gate eliminated Rwanda’s Kiramuzi MS 3-0 in the first semi-final duel.

Prize Monies:

The winners in the boys and girls’ category are expected to win USD 100,000, while the runners-up will take USD75,000 and bronze medalists USD 50, 000.

The victors will represent CECAFA region at the maiden African Schools Football Championship is slated to take place April 7-9, 2023.
