The 2022 Masaza Cup Final was graced by the Katikiro of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga who was the chief guest in the absence of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II.

Busiro Ssaza Football Team won its maiden Buganda Masaza Cup title after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Buddu in a well-contested final at the Mutesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

Pacy winger Isaac Ofoyrwoth and stylish midfielder Masuudi Kafumbe netted for the champions.

Buddu’s consolation came from Denis Kalanzi.

Ofoyrwoth gave Busiro the early lead before Kalanzi equalized with a header coming to the mandatory halftime clock.

The opening stanza ended all level at one goal apiece.

Kafumbe grabbed the late-late winner in the third minute of added time to spark wild celebrations.

This is Busiro’s first-ever Masaza Cup title and joins the elite cluster of champions.

The champions claimed the cash prize of UGX 12,000,000/=, gold medals and a glittering trophy.

The runners-up (Buddu) took silver medals and UGX 9,000,000/=.

Gomba is the record winner of this championship with five titles won in 2004, 2009, 2014, 2017 and lately 2020.
