Avengers Cricket Club might have finished in 5th place last season but that didn’t hinder Harsha Panchal from collecting the season MVP award.
A very wily right arm medium fast bowler, Panchal picked up wickets in a season but his all-round performance with the bat and in the field earned him enough points for him to win the MVP award.
You would expect the season MVP to come from the championship-winning team but their dominance over minors means that their individuals never get the chance to scale great heights.
Harshal Panchal who featured in all games for Avengers was able to collect enough points to edge his competition. Harshal Panchal has been on the fringes of making the national team and hopefully, this award gets him that precious call-up to the senior team.
Simon Ssesazi won the best batter award while Yash Joshi a teammate of Harsha Panchal won the best bowler award after picking up 18 wickets.
In the ladies league, Stephanie ‘Don’ Nampiina won the MVP award. The Victoria Pearls star all-rounder has for a long time been in the shadow of her best friend Immaculate Nakisuyi but her return from suspension saw her put in match-winning performances for Aziz Damani. She also won the best batter award with Franklin Najjumba winning the best bowler award.
In the men’s Division 2, Chintan Kerai from Patidar won both the MVP award and best bowler while Ronald Lutaaya won the best batsman award.
In the women’s Division 2 Whitney Nassuna won the best batter award while Irene Mutonyi won both best bowler and MVP awards.
The 2023 season will kick off next weekend and we could see new stars born.
