Kitara FC picked a narrow win over NEC FC in a FUFA Big League game held at Coffee ground, Bugolobi on Thursday.

The two sides came into this game level on points (37) and either side needed the points to create a gap at the top.

It was Kitara that seized the moment thanks to a late goal by defender Ramathan Dudu.

Dudu scored late in the 85th minute from the spot to ensure that his side picked up vital points.

He tucked home from the spot after Lazarous Bwambale was brought down in the box by defender Brian Mato.

This was the first loss for the Army side at home this season.

Victory means Kitara move to 40 points, two above Police FC who drew one-all at Kyetume.

Mbarara City moved to 37 points same as NEC after playing out a goalless draw against Kataka in Mbale.

Elsewhere, Calvary beat Ndejje University 3-0 in Yumbe, Luweero United lost 3-0 to Lugazi while Booma were held to a goalless draw by Adjumani.

Northern Gateway picked their second successive win, defeating Kaaro Karungi 1-0 in Lira.

Matchday 20 action will conclude on Friday with Jinja North United hosting Soroti City.
