The American Football Federation of Uganda (AFFU) held a successful media clinic on Friday, 10th March 2023 at the American center in Kabalagala, Kampala city.

This clinic was intended to give the sports journalists a rich insight on the basics of American Football sport, to get acquitted with the rules and regulations, operations of the Uganda American Football body and other details.
George Okeng, the president American Football Federation of Uganda was impressed by the program which he envisages as the right step in the desired direction.
“We have had a successful media clinic where the media personalities have been briefed more about the American Football game, its rules and regulations, how to cover the sport and the rest. This will give us good mileage going forward” Okeng revealed.

Okeng also talked about giving emphasis to flag football to help in the further development of this game especially among the young people in schools.
“We are now giving emphasis on flag football which virtually has limited contact. This is best suitable for the young players who are more willing to learn without a lot of contact and tackling” Okeng added.
Mpanga, a local coach of American Football hailed the participants for making the bold decision to learn more about the game which gives them more confidence and knowledge as they provide coverage to the sport in Uganda.
“I thank all the journalists that attended the American Football media clinic in Uganda. The knowledge acquired will help to further boost the sport in the country” Mpanga stated.

One of the participants, Justine Nakabuga lauded the organizers for the opportunity to attend the clinic and learn more about the game of American Football.
“I want to thank the American Football Federation of Uganda for the opportunity to attend the media clinic and learn more about this game. This will drive us forward as we now understand the game rules and how to cover it” Nakabuga who works with Tagy Television revealed.
The journalists were awarded with certificates of participation.
