The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) and Stanbic Bank have unveiled a three-year partnership worth 360 million.
In a deal signed and unveiled during a press briefing on Thursday, FUBA will receive 120 million shillings annually from the bank starting this season of the National Basketball League.
“We are pleased to announce this sponsorship which is a continuation of our longstanding
partnership with FUBA and the general sports fraternity.
“Our purpose at Stanbic is to drive Uganda’s growth and we know that sport has the potential to create millions of direct and indirect jobs for many young people who are the majority. We are pleased to be extending our support to basketball,” said Kenneth Agutamba, Stanbic Bank’s Head of Communications.
With the league set to tip off this weekend, FUBA President says the timing of the partnership couldn’t have been any better.
“There is no better time to have this partnership signed today with Stanbic. They are a big brand and FUBA is a big brand as well so when the two brands come together expect to see the best in our league.
“We are excited and happy and we have belief that this partnership will go a long way in terms of pushing the league,” he said.
It was also confirmed that Stanbic is the payment partner thus fans could get discounts when they purchase National Basketball League matchday tickets through the e-wallet platform Flexipay.
“Fans will be able to pay for tickets without necessarily using cash which is a convenient way for the fans,” Sserunjogi said
