The organizing team of the 2023 UGC Lady Captain's Prize Golf championship received a boost with the UGX 20,000,000 sponsorship package from Standard Chartered Bank Uganda.

At least 200 golfers are expected to grace the 2023 Lady Captain’s prize golf championship at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Kitante in Kampala.

The two-day tournament swings off with the professionals on Friday, 17th March for their UGX 7,000,000 kitty and a special UGX 2,000,000 for the two female professionals (Irene Nakalembe and Flavia Namakula).

These will joined by the national junior team golfers who will use the championship for practice ahead of the All Africa Junior championships at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kigo.

On the subsequent day, the main championship will take effect.

March being the women’s month, the bank sought it prudent to celebrate the feminists.

The Lady Captain of Uganda Golf Club, Grace Kabonero openly expressed delight upon the sponsorship as they continue to celebrate the International women’s day.

We are very pleased and excited about the partnership between Standard Chartered Bank Uganda and the Uganda Golf club, ladies’ section. This tournament is an annual event that brings together women golfers from across the country and this year we have different categories of players, ladies, men, seniors and some Junior golfers. We are ready to host all participants especially the women as we celebrate this women’s month.

Standard Chartered Bank is joined by CASE Medicare Care, Crown Beverages and Housing Finance among others as partners.

The golf tournament is expected to attract participants from across the country and will provide an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to compete in a friendly and competitive environment.

Golfers across the different handicaps (under medal format) will be in contention for varying prizes.

 The prizes (trophies and other goodies) will vary from the outstanding performers in the different groups A, B and C with their rewards for guest golfers, side-bets as longest drive and nearest to the pin.
