Overview:
For starters, the Eritine complex is found along Buwaate road, just behind Karib Oil fuel station (half a kilometer away from the junction in Najeera 2).
Time over and again, the element of infrastructure as well as equipment remains pertinent in the growth and development of any given sport in the box.
In Uganda, like many of the states in the developing economies, there is a pronounced status for inadequate sports facilities and gear.
Worse still, the few existing facilities and equipment are sub-standard and many lie in abject appalling conditions.
The aforementioned grey patches have hindered the steadfast and proper development of talent across the board for the different sports disciplines which has deprived the country.
Amidst these challenges, varying aggressive personalities and companies have forged means to pave on against all the odds.
In Buwaate, a suburb of Kampala city, there lies a magnificent state-of-the-art swimming pool at the Eritine complex.
This swimming pool measures to 25 meters with six lanes.
To be exact, the Eritine complex is located along Buwaateroad, just behind Karib Oil fuel station (half a kilometer away from the junction in Najeera 2).
At the complex, Sailfish swim club has established a branch that was recently launched in early March 2023.
According to Joseph Kabogoza, a head coach at Sailfish swimming club, this is an extension from the crop that also trains at Ambrosoli International School in Kampala.
“We are humbled to have launched a branch at Eritine complex, Buwaate. This is part of the main group that trains at Ambrosoli International school. We want to spread wings and attract as many swimmers as possible, polishing up their skills and getting them ready for local, regional, continental and international competitions” Kabogoza states.
Kabogoza works alongside a committed team of coaches, administrators and other support personnel.
William Muloopa, Rogers Sabiiti, Sanon Muloopa, Vivian Namyaalo and Esther Nadunga are all assistant coaches.
The administrators include; Deborah Musoke and Joanitar Kabogoza, among others.
By and large, the future of Uganda’s sports lies with basics as having the right coaches to prepare the best athletes via-a-vis standard equipment and facilities.
