Overview:
The intention was to bring LaLiga and ElClasico closer to the fans and kids in Uganda. There were hundreds of events all over the world celebrating the match (FC Barcelona vs Real Madrid) with many different type of activities.
Sparta 09 academy girls and boys football teams were victorious during the 2023 La-Liga youth competition in Uganda.
The tournament was played hours before the latest exciting el-classico duel where FC Barcelona overcame Real Madrid 2-1 on Sunday, 19th March 2023.
Real Madrid took the early lead through Ronald Araujo’s 9th minute goal.
Sergi Roberto leveled matters on the stroke of half time before a stoppage time winner from Franck Kessie gave Barcelona the maximum points.
Back to the La-Liga tournament in Uganda for the youth, there were 6 different academies with a total of 8 teams (4 per gender).
These competed in group stage format before the finals determined the winners.
By close of business, Sparta 09 boys and girls’ teams were victorious.
La-Liga official Alvaro Abreu handed over the medals, trophies and other goodies to the exceling teams and persons.
Alvaro remarked about the vivid value of this tournament.

The La Liga collaborated with local partners as Watoto Wasoka that work towards better life education and opportunities to children using football as a vehicle for progress, henceforth adding value to the communities and their families.
The theme of the ElClassico was to let the fans add points for their favourite team in a global worldwide scorer to see who has the best fans in the world.
The different teams that took part included; Super Heroes United, Home Talents, JB Soccer Academy, Mbuya Church of Uganda, Sparta 09 and MBK Sportline.
The tournament is intended to be an annual event.
