Kampala Queens clinched the 2022/23 FUFA Women Super League title on Sunday after defeating UCU Lady Cardinals.

The Queens of Soccer went into Sunday’s game needing just a point to round up the title.

However, they won it in style registering a 2-0 victory in the game played at IUIU Grounds, Kabojja.

An own goal by defender Bridget Nabisaalu and a late strike from Shamirah Nalugya ensured Kampala Queens sailed to victory.

Whereas UCU Lady Cardinals put up a fight, the lack of cutting edge in the final third was evident with goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro literally not bothered.

The hosts on the other side had chances with Resty Nanziri, Hasifah Nassuna and Margaret Kunihira all coming close.

In the 22nd minute, Nabisaalu failed to clear Kinihira’s corner kick delivery and instead the ball into her own net.

The icing on the cake came from Nalugya who made a good run to finish from close range after Zaina Namuleme set her up.

The win takes Kampala Queens to 40 points in 14 games and still unbeaten with four games to the end of the season.
