The second edition of the Victoria Series will take place in Kampala from April 16th-23rd at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

This edition has attracted three new entrants in Rwanda, Tanzania and the UAE. The Emirates Nation will be visiting East Africa for the 1st time but has at least played against Uganda and Kenya in an invitational tournament in 2016 in the desert.

The UAE ranked 15th in the World will come to Kampala as the highest-ranked team and therefore come into the tournament with a big reputation.

With T20I status, the UAE ladies will have to make sure they don’t lose ranking points when they lose to teams below them.

We know our World Cup ranking of 15th carries alot of weight but we come to Kampala with alot of respect for each of the teams. We are taking all the games very serious and will ensure that we take care of our processes so that we win the tournament. We are coming with some young players as well and we think this will be a great opportunity for them as well to grow.

Chaya Mughal – UAE Ladies Captain

Rwanda is currently taking part in the Nigeria Invitational T20 tournament and will come into the tournament as underdogs.

However, the emergence of some exciting young talent from the U-19 girl’s team that was at the World Cup should make them a formidable side.

The rising stars of the game Gisele Ishimwe and Henriette Ishimwe will be in the wise company of Sara Uwera and team captain Diane Bimenyimana.

We have prepared hard for the tournament in Kampala, the Nigeria invitational T20 tournament has given us an opportunity to keep working on our craft and we should be a solid side when we come to Kampala. We have at least the experience of playing against all our East African neighbors but this will be the 1st time we play against the UAE. We have a watched a few videos of them playing on YouTube and we have done our homework. We are coming with the same group of 14 players here in Nigeria so there will be no changes to our team.

Diane Bimenyimana – Captain of Rwanda

The ladies’ tournament will feature the East African teams Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda and visitors UAE. The games will all be played at the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

Denis has represented Uganda in international cricket events including the World Cup. He is currently the captain of Wanderers Cricket Club.
