Kitara FC regained top spot in the FUFA Big League after earning a hard fought win over Police FC on Friday.
The Royals registered a 1-0 win over the Cops thanks to Moses Sseruyidde’s solitary strike.
The left footed midfielder curled home direct from a free kick in the 62nd minute to guide Kitara to victory in the game played at Kigaaya Primary School Playground.
Kitara came into Friday’s game in second place following Mbarara City’s win over Ndejje University on Thursday.
The Ankole Lions won with the same scoreline against Ndejje University at Kakyeka Stadium.
Therefore, Kitara under the stewardship of Sam Ssimbwa needed a response in order to return to the summit.
Victory took them to 46 points, two ahead of second placed Mbarara City FC.
Police on the other hand remain a slot outside of the promotion zone in fourth place on 40 points.
With seven games to the end of the season, four teams (Kitara, Mbarara City, NEC and Police) are still in stiff competition for the three promotion slots to Uganda Premier League.
