Wakiso Giants poor run in the League since the start of the year is far from ending if the results posted recently are anything to go by.

The Purple Sharks once again suffered defeat as they played against UPDF FC on Friday at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium.

The team is yet to post a win in the League this year from the five outings. They have lost four and drawn once.

The losses have come against KCCA FC, Maroons FC, Blacks Power and UPDF FC. The draw (goalless) was at home against Vipers SC.

On Friday, Wakiso Giants went into the game with several players sidelined due to various reasons.

Moses Aliro, Shariph Kimbowa, Norman Ojik, Apollo Kagogwe and George Kaddu missed the game due to injuries while Ambrose Arinda was serving a suspension.

Ronald Madoi, Marvin Mukiibi (St. Mary’s Kitende) and Jerome Wamusi (Gombe High School) also missed the game due to engagements with their schools in the Post-Primary football competitions.

Today, defender Paul Willa sustained an injury and could not finish the game.

That coupled with the departure of Ibrahim Kasule and Frank Ssebufu to New York Red Bull II left Wakiso Giants depleted.

UPDF who are battling relegation secured a 1-0 win thanks to Gerald Kimuli’s goal a minute after the hour mark.

The home side felt unlucky on the day with Titus Ssematimba denied twice by the woodwork.

The result leaves Wakiso Giants in sixth place on 26 points while UPDF remain 13th on the table on 18 points.
