KCCA dropped crucial points in the title race after being held to a 1-1 draw at home against Maroons.
The hosts needed a Rogers Mato strike at the stroke of halftime to salvage a draw after Fred Amaku had given the Prisoners an early lead.
Amaku put the hosts in the lead after just nine minutes when he headed at the far post from a weighted Ceaser Olega delivery from the right.
KCCA responded with endless attacks but had to wait until the last minute of the first half to score when Mato headed at the near post.
Morley Byekwaso responded by making a double change with Ashraf Mugume and Charles Lwanga making way for Julius Poloto and Moses Waiswa.
They had a dominant second half display but were left to rue missed chances and good goalkeeping from Man of the Match Simon Tamale.
The Kasasiro stay second on the table with 36 points, one behind Villa who have played two more games while Maroons are 8th with 26 points.
In the other game played on Saturday, URA recovered from a 2-1 defeat to Busoga United to beat hosts Soltilo Bright Stars 2-0 at Kavumba.
The result lifts the tax collectors to 5th position on the log with 26 points same as Arua Hill, Wakiso Giants and Maroons who have an inferior goal difference.
