Overview:

The Uganda High Schools' super sizes Lacrosse tournament was the first time that the Olympics sixes format was being played in Africa competitively.

Nabisunsa Girls School clinched the inaugural high school super sixes championship held at Makerere University Business School-Nakawa, Kampala city.

This was the first time that the Olympics sixes format was being played in Africa competitively.

Nabisunsa Girls School came top as champions with a total of 15 points ahead of Mukono based Forest Hill College (9 points).

St Mary’s High School, Zirobwe was third with 9 points Mariam High School coming fourth on 8 points.

Nabisunsa B Team finished as fifth on 6 points and Mariam High B Team completed the set of teams in the championship with no point at all.

Clarissa Mutayisa, the skipper for Nabisunsa Girls Lacrosse School hoisted high the glittering trophy and the team was also rewarded with gold medals.

Sarah Nambawa, the Country Director of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Uganda hailed the participating schools, appreciating the different players for the brevity.

The High schools’ super sixes tourney was the first of its kind. I thank the schools which took part and special honour to the players who took part.

The sponsors and partners included; Naya Stores, Maker university business school, Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Uganda, Kelly Benefits, Silverbacks Youth Sports Programme, Uganda Lacrosse Association (ULA) and Makerere University Business School (MUBS).

The tournament was to prepare the athletes for the 2023 national ball games in Kabale where Lacrosse is the latest sport to be added onto the menu of games by the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA).

The other games that will be played in Kabale include football (girls), Hockey, Rugby, Tennis and Badminton.

4 – Mariam High School, Kisaasi – 8 points

5 – Nabisunsa B Team – 6 points

6 – Mariam High B Team – 0 point
