In February, Kiplimo had also won the Nile Special/USPA award for the gold medal won at the 2023 World Cross Country Championship in Bathurst city, Australia.
Uganda’s long distance athlete, Jacob Kiplimo has once again returned on the podium of Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA).
The sports journalists under the unifying body of USPA voted Kiplimo, 22, as the most outstanding sports personality for the month of March 2023.
This was at the monthly assembly held at Imperial Royale Hotel, Kampala on Monday, April 3, chaired by president Moses Alsayed Lubega.
Kiplimo was victorious during the 2023 United Airlines New York City Half Marathon in the USA on Sunday, 19th March with a time of 1:01:31.
During the same race, Uganda completed a 1-2 finish when Joshua Cheptegei claimed silver.

In Bathurst, Cheptegei finished third to take bronze.
How Kiplimo won the March 2023 Award:
Kiplimo amassed a total of 320 votes ahead of the Rally Crew of Yasin Nasser and Ali Katumba.
Nasser and Katumba finished second during the 2023 Equator Rally in Voi, Kenya.

Commendations:
US based powerlifter Roy Mubiru, professional boxer Latib Muwonge and the Uganda ladies Table Tennis national team were all commended for the different achievements attained.
Mubiru earned gold at the 2023 Arnold classic championships.


Muwonge won the Africa Boxing Union title in Kampala as the Uganda Table Tennis national team (ladies and men) performd well at the ITTF Regional Senior Championship hosted by Djibouti in the horn of Africa.
The girls won silver and the boys’ side settled for bronze.


Other awards:
Uganda Cranes and KCCA forward Rogers Mato won the Supportive / Assist Award following his goal against Tanzania in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers at the National stadium in Dar-es-salaam city.
Toyota Buffaloes Scrum half Aaron Tukei won the Promising Talent Award.

Lily Lameck won the Sporting Award (decided by the USPA Executive) for her contribution towards the growth and development of bodybuilding support in Uganda.
USPA brings together the different sports journalists in Uganda working in electronic (Television and radio), Internet (online) as well as print media companies.
This body was started in 1970 by veteran journalist Fredrick Ssekitto.
