Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) inflicted more misery of free falling Wakiso Giants as the two sides faced off on Wednesday in Lugazi.
The Purple Sharks who have been a shadow of themselves from the performance they had in the first round, suffered fourth successive loss in the league and fifth in the six games played since the start of the year.
In the game played at Mehta Stadium, Lugazi, URA picked a 2-1 win thanks to goals from Saidi Kyeyune and Living Kabon. The consolation for Wakiso Giants came from Shariph Kimbowa.
The Tax Collector had suffered a surprise loss to Busoga United on their return to Lugazi after six years. However, they have now covered up with two successive wins including today’s and the other coming at Soltilo Bright Stars FC over the weekend.
Kyeyune opened the scores three minutes after the hour mark after goalkeeper Samson Kirya spilled the ball into his path.
The visitors however felt hard done, indicating the goalkeeper was infringed before Kyeyune tucked home but their protests fell on deaf ears of Centre referee George Nkurunziza.
Ten minutes into the second half, Kabon doubled the lead for the hosts, firing beyond goalkeeper Bashir Sekagya who had replaced Kirya.
At the hour makr, Wakiso Giants pulled one back through Kimbowa who converted from the spot but this could only settle as a consolation goal.
URA FC move up to fifth place on 29 points same as Vipers SC who occupy fourth spot due to a superior goal difference. Wakiso Giants on the other hand drop to 8th position with 26 points from 20 games.
