Uganda has been confirmed as hosts for the 2023 Netball Africa Cup hosts.

This will be the 13th edition of the Africa Netball Cup and the first of its kind Africa Netball men’s netball cup.

The positive development was confirmed by the continental netball governing body, Africa Netball.

“Africa Netball is pleased to given Uganda Netball Federation the hosting rights upon confirmation that all the hosting requirements will be in place before and during the tournament to allow the smooth running of both competitions.”  Reads part of the letter authorized by the president Cecilia Molokwane and her entire executive committee.

Some of the conditions set include playing venues (an indoor facility with a sprung floor), meeting venues, accommodation facilities for teams, match officials, Africa Netball executive committee members and World Netball staff, inland transport for umpires, UAP, UN staff, Africa Netball board, medical, security, volunteers, team liaison officers and others.

In addition, Africa Netball will conduct an ACOF training that will be facilitated by the UAP’s, train umpires (with Africa C’s and B’s).

The date for the tournament is yet to be fixed and confirmed.

Uganda has several options of venue placements ranging from the MTN Lugogo Indoor Arena, Makerere Netball courts, Kamwokya to Africa Bible University Lubowa.

In case the development comes to pass, this will be yet another milestone for Sarah Babirye’s led Uganda Netball Federation executive and the entire Uganda as a whole.

Last year, Uganda successfully hosted the East and Central clubs’ championship at Kamwokya.
