Jackson Ogwang

Jackson Ogwang who has been the assistant coach for the Cricket Cranes under the tutelage of Laurence Mahatlane has been handed the responsibility of taking care of the team, especially for their next two international engagements.

Ogwang will be in charge of the team during the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Namibia as well as the Africa Cup tournament in South Africa.

Uganda are the defending champions of the Africa Cup which will happen from December 5th-10th in South Africa and that tournament happens immediately after the T20 World Cup Qualifiers from 20th November to 2nd December.

Ogwang is no stranger to the national set-up as he has been the assistant to Lawrence Mahatlane for the last three years and was also part of the team as assistant to Steve Tikolo.

First of all I would like to thank UCA for entrusting me with the the responsibility of leading the team.

We have been preparing as a team for the last three years and we are going to continue with the same process to get the best results.

As a team we are in a great place and we shall continue to prepare well because we have two big tournaments in a short space.

At the same press briefing, Michael Nuwagaba confirmed that he will be staying on as Chairman of the Uganda Cricket Association until the end of his term in 2025.

The chairman had earlier indicated that he would be leaving the role on 16/10/2023 but he confirmed today that he will be staying on to ensure continuity in the leadership.
