Former SC Villa head coach Jackson Magera has been named as an interim replacement for Sergio Traguilat KCCA Football Club.
Sergio’s two-year contract will be terminated, according to New Vision, following today’s board meeting.
Sergio gave KCCA FC fans and football faithful hope before the season started that the Lugogo-based club had finally found the perfect man.
But the hope was dashed after KCCA FC lost four consecutive league games in what was dubbed the club’s worst start to the season.
The bad run began with a 1-0 loss to BUL, followed by losses to Maroon (2-1), Express FC (2-1), and Kitara, who rubbed salt in the wounds with a 3-1 loss.
The news comes just two days before their match against tenants NEC FC.
Magera Can Be Trusted
Magera developed a powerful SC Villa club that came close to ending the Jogoos’ UPL title drought before fumbling on the final day.
Having worked closely with Mike Mutebi, it is anticipated that he can develop a good team while playing a style that the KCCA followers adore.
This task, however, will be very different from that of SC Villa because Magera will be taking over a squad that is in a sad place with little hope left in them.
He is expected to work his magic and provide results as quickly as possible in order to get the team back on track.
Sergio dug his grave
While KCCA FC has a reputation for being patient with coaches, that will not be the case this time around, as the Portuguese coach will be fired four games into the season.
Sergio was unable to get his best eleven, resulting in a change of squad in each game, preventing the team’s chemistry from developing.
Several participants found themselves in an uneasy situation. Ettiene Katenga, for example, was spotted playing left back against Kitara FC.
However, in previous games, Katenga was spotted playing either behind the front or on the sides.
Sergio failed to keep his dressing room in order after arguing with his players for too long. As a result, Derrick Ochan and Moses Waiswa were suspended, precipitating the crisis.
