On Saturday, December 2, the golfing arena had an unparalleled showcase at Entebbe Golf Club as NCBA Bank took the helm as the lead sponsor of the seventh season of the Singleton Match Play Golf Challenge.
NCBA Bank contributed Ugx 60M to the Challenge, reaffirming its unwavering support for the growth of golf in the country and the region.
In harmony with its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiative, NCBA Bank not only sponsored the Singleton Match Play Golf Challenge but also embraced the broader golfing canvas, including the esteemed regional NCBA Golf Series.
“NCBA Bank believes in connecting communities through golf, which is why we continue to sponsor events like the Singleton Golf Challenge. As a bank, we want to take the sport of golf across East Africa,” Mark Muyobo, the CEO of NCBA Bank Uganda, commented.

This commitment to the sport manifested across the border as two NCBA-sponsored players Peter Tumusiime and Peace Kabasweka shone at the NCBA Golf Series Grande Finale at Sigona Golf Club in Nairobi, Kenya. Tumusiime claimed the gross category while Kabasweka, the Uganda Ladies Open winner, had the longest drive in the ladies’ category.
After a gruelling five-month journey with vigorous competition, Saidi Kirarira and Richard Muchunguzi emerged victorious beating Kenneth Kiddu and Joseph Bogera after 16 holes.
The 19th hole marked a splendid end to the day with players coming together to conclude the grand finale with joy and grandeur in a black tie affair.
The event ended in an award ceremony in which Gerrard Owino & Sarah Nduhukire were named the Smartest Match Play Pair, Anne Abeja (Smartest Lady at the 19th Hole), Morgan Otile (Smartest Gentleman at 19th Hole), Samson Akankiza (Most Consistent Player), Paul Habyarimana (Player of the Season) and the Team of the Season award going to overall winners Saidi Kirarira & Richard Muchunguzi.
The event was also sponsored by Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), Uganda Airlines, Cfao Motors and DSTV.
