The 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations enters the semi-final stage on Wednesday with Nigeria, South Africa, DR Congo and hosts Cote d’Ivoire in the last four.

The Super Eagles are the most successful amongst the four and when they walk to the pitch to face Bafana Bafana, they will equal the record for most appearances in the semi-finals.

It will be the 16th time the Super Eagles, three-time Afcon winners are in the last four equaling the record earlier set by the Pharaohs of Egypt.

They have achieved this in 20 appearances while the Pharaohs achieved the feat in six more appearances.

Behind these record-holders, Ghana comes third with 14 semi-finals played in 24 appearances.

Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire have each reached the semi-finals of Africa football’s showpiece event 10 times.

For playing in the finals, Egypt is ahead with 10 final appearances (7 -time winners), Ghana has 9 (4-time winners) and Cameroon 7 (won 5).
