National Basketball League – Results
- City Oilers 74-38 Our Savior
It might still be early days into the 2024 National Basketball League, however after two games played the record nine-time champions City Oilers continue to show its class way above the other teams in the campaign.
After the departure of gaffer Mandy Juruni, many thought there could arise a bit of displacement of the ship but instead, it seems more ‘Oiled’ for the battle.
However, it’s even hard to realise that Juruni left since coach Andrew Tendo has taken over the role and he and the boys are still serving the goods.
The Oilers secured yet another thrilling 74-38 victory against Our Savior in the ongoing National Basketball League at the Lugogo Arena on Wednesday.
Fayed Baale opened the scoring party with a layup before the Oilers went on to open a 13-lead (23-10) by the end of the first stanza.
In the second quarter, the Oilers’ defensive unit improved, limiting Our Savior to only nine points as they drooped in 20. At halftime, the holders had a comfortable 24-point lead.
Coming from the locker room, Our Savior made two quick conversions as Mesho Kenneth and Alleh Okwenzi made driving layups proving their souls were still up and ready to fight. However, Baale responded with a three-point jump shot. Amidst, Our Savior’s fight City Oiler widened the lead to 32 points (62-30).
It was no contest in the final quarter as the Oilers had sealed the assignment way early. Tendo’s troops bagged their second victory of the campaign with a 36-point lead.
Baale scored a game-high 13 points and pulled down five rebounds while Edrine Walujjo added 13 and 11 points respectively.
None of the Our Savior’s players managed to score a double as Moses Mugisha led their scoring sheet with nine points while Joel Icumar and Mesho Kenneth added seven and six points respectively.
