- Express FC 3-4 KCCA
Usama Arafat scored a 89th minute winner for KCCA in a thrilling encounter against Express at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.
The Kasasiro who took an early lead inside the first minute through Ettiene Katenga had to do it the hard way though after throwing away the early lead to allow Express lead 3-1.
Isaac Wagoina equalised for the Red Eagles in the 23rd minute heading at the far post a well weighted Isma Kawawulo cross.
John Asiimwe who had replaced Hussein Ssenoga put Alex Isabirye’s men in the lead for the first time in the 33rd minute putting the ball way beyond Anthony Emojong after KCCA failed to clear the lines.
Marvin Oshaba then made it 3-1 three minutes later after another defensive mix up in the KCCA area.
At this juncture, KCCA coach Abdallah Mubiru had made changes replacing Peter Lwasa, Ogwang and Mustapha Kizza with Peter Magambo, Usama Arafat and Herbert Achai.
Five minutes after recess, Muhammad Shaban gave the visitors hope of a come back netting off Man of the match Ashraf Mugume cross, his first league goal away from home.
Kassim Katumba, Musa Ssali and Mansoor Saafi then came on for the hosts in the place Wagoina, Alpha Ssali and Abel Muwanguzi and the changes backfired as KCCA put pressure regaining more control.
With 17 minutes left, Mubiru withdrew defensive midfielder Emmanuel Wasswa and right back Haruna Lukwago for offensive minded Abu Mayanja and Saidi Mayanja with intention to pile pressure on the Express backline.
Mugume drew both teams level in the 87th minute with a long range effort that ended with Yunus Abubaker howler to send the home fans silent.
Arafat then won it three minutes later after some good work by Shaban which caused Isa Lumu and Baker problems and the KCCA number 27 slotted into an empty net.
The goal sent the hosts silent as jubilations in the away stands started which continued even after the final whistle.
The defeat is Express’ second succession after the one at Mbarara and leaves the 7-time champions 8th with 25 points, just two adrift of the Kasasiro who are 9th at the moment.
Both teams will take off time in the league to concentrate on the Uganda Cup.
