Easy Birdies Golf Academy was founded late 2023 with the objective of teaching young golfers the skills of the game, harnessing their potential to become top players and later on professionals in the game.

Former American professional Arnold Daniel “The King” Palmer once described golf as the greatest game that man has ever invented.

“Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; It satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening – and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented” Palmer is famously quoted.

All deliberate plans undertaken to ensure the sustainability of this swing, chip and putt game are all welcome.

To nurture more golfers in Uganda, a grooming institution; Easy Birdies Golf Academy was founded.

The Easy Birdies Golf Academy was founded late 2023 with the objective of teaching young golfers the skills of the game, harnessing their potential to become top players and later on professionals in the game.

Ardent golfer Hannington Mpiima is the Executive Director of Easy Birdies Golf Academy whose main offices are located at The Acacia Mall 14-18 (on 4th Floor), TT06 Regus along Cooper Road off Acacia Avenue in Kampala city.

“We are excited to have Easy Birdies Golf Academy. This will help to nurture and groom young golfers in their journey to become the best golfers in the country as they take professionalism in this game” Mpiima states.

Easy Birdies Golf Academy is fully recognized by the Uganda Golf Union (UGU) with the national team golf team head coach Flavia Namukula, among the teaching professionals for this Academy.

Other professionals passing on skills to the youngsters are Henry Lujja, Becca Mwanja and others.

Easy Birdies Golf Academy is partnering with golf clubs in the country and has a school program to recruit as many young golfers as possible.

“We are working very closely with the Uganda Golf Union, different clubs in the country and the US Kids Golf Program. We also have a schools’ program in the normal school days, week-ends and during Holidays” Mpiima adds.

A putting and chipping session was held at Arcons International School, Kisaasi with an overwhelming turn up for young pupils and students on Saturday, 10th February 2024.

Professionals Namakula and Lujja passed on the golf skills for beginners as gripping the clubs, body posture, concentration, swinging, putting and chipping.

There was a good turn up for students who braved the early morning heavy downpour to converge at Arcons International School – Kisaasi and learn the “A,B,C” of golf.

“We managed to pass on basic skills as gripping, posture of the body, swinging, chipping and putting to the different youngsters. The turn up was overwhelming and the students expressed the will-power to take on the game. The future is bright” Professional golfer Namakula remarked.

There was enjoy as first time young golfers easily mastered how to grip the golf clubs, could easily position their bodies as they putted on the putting golf carpet to hit the intended targets.

Others chipped their balls with perfection to the nets and the session moved on for close to five non-stop hours.

Easy Birdies Golf Academy intends to spread wings over to a couple of international, primary and other secondary schools in Uganda.

The Academy will also hold open sessions at Uganda Golf Club (Kampala), Entebbe and Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort & Spa.

There are plans to host internal and external golf tours for young budding golfers.
