The chairman of the board for National Council of Sports (NCS) Ambrose Tashobya has affirmed that they have a very solid plan for the upcoming four year tenure 2024-2028.
“We open up a new chapter of continued work and development. Together with my team, we established a very solid plan for the upcoming period 2024-2028 together with the good relations with the mother ministry of Education and Sports. Much more will be attained and achieved in these four years” Tashobya hinted.

Tashobya made the remarks during the official hand-over of the report from the period 2022 to 2024 as he served his first tenure in office as chairman of the NCS board.
State minister for sports Hon. Peter Ogwang reappointed Tashobya for a four year tenure with six other members who were reduced from 12.
The NCS board also has former Olympic Marathon Gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich, banker Moses Omara Anyii, seasoned sports administrator Zubair Galiwango, Â experienced administrator Cecilia Anyakoit, politician Gloria Evelyn Piloya and Jacqueline Basemera, an educationalist.
Tashobya recalled a tough time under which his tenure commenced; but they were able to manueveur through such trying moments
“The first one and half years were challenging. We were however resilient and focused.” Tashobya hinted.
He lauded the Almighty Lord for seeing them through the tough times with special appreciation to the first lady and minister of education and sports mamma Janet Museveni as well as the state minister Hon. Peter Ogwang.

Surging forward:
National Council of Sports (NCS) is now braced towards the a number of projects and programs for this four year tenure coming up.
“NCS is focused towards the redevelopment of Lugogo sports complex. We have entered partnerships with other institutions of Government as Kyambogo University, KCCA and Uganda Investment Authority. We yearn to establish regional academies and related consultancy. We started out mapping out sports centers in Uganda. There is confidence that much will be done” he added.
He tagged the sports federations and associations as the engine of the National Council of Sports (NCS), lauding Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and sports media.
In his address, the state minister of sports Hon. Peter Ogwang called for unity (teamwork) and diligence of the board.
He urged for the implementation of the new sports law to totality, good accountability of public funds, reviews of employment contracts for all staff at NCS, establishment of a sports museum, monitoring of sports federations and associations, facilitation of Uganda’s teams to international championships, among others.
