Overview:
Villa, KCCA, Wakiso Giants and URA have been left without key players as they are with Hippos in Ethiopia for friendly games in the Dire Cup
Abdallah Mubiru has called on FUFA to have respect for both the clubs and the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.
The KCCA gaffer stated this in a pre-match presser ahead of his side’s clash with Kitara at the MTN Omondi stadium citing the abrupt program of the Dire Cup in Ethiopia which has left his club without three key players.
Haruna Lukwago, Usama Arafat and Saidi Mayanja are part of the U-20 national team that travelled to Ethiopia to take part in the Dire Cup, a tournament preparing teams that will play in the All Africa Games due in March [7th -24th] in Ghana.
“As an individual, am not happy with how Fufa conducts its business,” a vividly unhappy Mubiru started.
“There is a lot of disrespect to the clubs. Its not good to disrespect clubs much as you have all the powers because we can only improve the brand by respect.
“We need to give respect to our league as well and stop this system of waking up, summon players for friendly games when league games are ongoing.
If they had it on the calendar, it would have been okay not to fix league games in this period because that makes much sense. I urge the authority to think about it and act better next time because it waters down the league competition as well
Mubiru
Mubiru believes that clubs playing without some players already weakens the league.
Already, the game between SC Villa and Vipers has been postponed with the Jogoos opting to utilize the FUFA competitions rule that reschedules games for any team that has 3 or more players on the national team.
And from the look of things, more Villa games are likely to be postponed until the Hippos are done with the competitive games in Ghana as well.
KCCA decided to have their games go on but will surely be a different side without the trio who are integral first team players.
