  • Maroons 0-0 BUL
    KCCA 0-1 Kitara

Kitara moved within two points of leaders BUL after a historic win over KCCA at the MTN Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Friday under the lights.

Denis Omedi settled the scores with the winner that takes second placed Kitara to 36 points, two adrift of BUL who played to a goalless draw at Maroons.

In a game watched by a fully packed crowd, KCCA were the most dominant side and created some good chances but failed to utilize them with Muhammad Shaban and Ettiene Katenga the chief culprit.

The visitors had also missed one good chance in the first half when Jude Ssemugabi beat the goalkeeper but saw his attempt gone agonisingly wide of the post.

Shaban then missed nearly in same fashion after the break as his shot from just within the six yard went inches wide with Crispus Kusiima beaten.

The game appeared to be headed into a goalless stalemate when Omedi capitalized on the mix up in the hosts defence to stab home.

First, miscommunication between Emojong and Mustafa Mujjuzi gifted the visitors possession and Peter Magambo lost possession inside the area with Omedi shooting past Emojong to send the travelling crowd into frenzy in the 79th minute.

KCCA who remain 9th with 23 points after 18 games had chances to level matters but were all thwarted as Kitara held on for a historic victory at Lugogo.

The Royals will be in action again on 27th when they host Wakiso Giants in Masindi and the following day, KCCA will clash with NEC in the Lugogo derby.
