Victoria Pearls Tour To India

  • Uganda W 145/6
  • Zimbabwe W 139/8

Uganda won by 6 runs

Gloria Obukor made the most of a rare playing opportunity notching up a half century in a mental win for the Victoria Pearls against the Lady Chevrons.

Obukor was one of the changes made by the Victoria Pearls for their third T20 match on their training tour of India. She plundered 50 runs off 37 balls in 37 runs partnership with Immaculate Nakisuyi and a 48 run partnership with Esther Iloku (32) as the Victoria Pearls finished on 145 in their 20 overs.

The Ugandans could have had a strong finish in the final five overs but they only managed to get 24 runs from 30 balls.

In the run chase, the Lady Chevrons got out of the blocks quickly scoring at 10 runs every over for the first seven overs but Captain Consy Aweko (2/9) put the brakes on things with a mean spell to derail the run chase.

The Lady Chevrons pushed the game deep but the Victoria Pearls held their nerve to make sure they get a resounding win against their nemesis.

Recent bias favored the Lady Chevrons during the T20 World Cup Qualifiers when they defeated the Victoria Pearls empathetically in the final.

Uganda and Zimbabwe are in the same group at the African Games in Ghana in a game that will have higher stakes.

The two teams took their preparations for the games to India ahead of the games in Ghana and T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Abu Dhabi.
